David Thomas Lingmerth was born on 22 July 1987, in Tranas, Smaland, Sweden. His parents are Thomas and Birgitta Lingmerth. 

He started playing golf at a local golf club in Tranas. David’s uncle Goran Lingmerth played in the NFL, for the Cleveland Browns.

Lingmerth represented Sweden twice at the European Amateur Team Championship. He played college golf at the University of West Florida (one year) and the University of Arkansas (three years). He was a two-time All-American.

Professional Career

David Lingmerth turned professional in 2010. As of writing, the Swedish golfer has three professional wins.

In 2012, Lingmerth won the Neediest Kids Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour. 

His second victory came on the PGA Tour, which is also his sole victory on the tour to date; in June 2015, Lingmerth won the Memorial Tournament. He scored 273 (-15) to enter a playoff against Justin Rose. The Swedish won with a birdie on the third hole in the playoff.

In August 2022, Lingmerth won the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour.

In the 2022-23 PGA Tour season, he has 5 Top-10 finishes as of July, including a T3 finish at the Genesis Scottish Open in July.

Lingmerth represented Sweden in the Golf World Cup in 2016, together with Alex Noren. The Swedish team finished 5th. He also played in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, representing Sweden. He finished 11th.
