He won his only major title in August 1997, at the PGA Championship, at Winged Foot Golf Club. Only 4 players finished under par in the tournament. Love scored an 11-under-par, winning by 5 strokes over Justin Leonard.

Love was born to Davis Love Jr. and Helen, in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was born a day after Davis Love Jr. played the final round of the 1964 Masters.
